One of the most exciting aspects of the remake is the enhanced combat system. Players must navigate through the station’s various areas and confront various enemies to stop SHODAN’s plan and save Earth from destruction. The station has been taken over by an AI known as SHODAN, which seeks to destroy humanity and remake the world in her own image.

Players will once again find themselves on Citadel Station, a sprawling, interconnected space station that houses all manner of scientific research and military hardware.

The remake combines the cult gameplay of the original with updated controls, HD visuals, an overhauled interface, and new sounds and music. The release was initially scheduled for the end of March, but the development team needed more time to ensure the game met their quality standards. This comes from a press release on Steam. System Shock, the highly anticipated fully-fledged remake of the groundbreaking 1994 classic, will launch on PC on Tuesday, May 30th, 2023.
